I have no first hand experience of the 2.3 but a good friend of mine used to run two Scorpio 2.3's as taxi's. He reckoned that they were brilliant. I owned a Granada automatic with the 2.0 twin cam and it was superb. For a big lump of a car, it was excellent on petrol.

In a RV I would have thought a 2.5 TD would be the ticket.

Thanks Guys
I have been running the scorpio for 18 months, and although it was reasonable on fuel it always seemed to be in the red. according to the trip computer I got 10 mpg more with the a/c turned off
Fuel economy is not an issue with the mileage the Rv does. I would like the period essex to remain but want a good one in it.
the scorpio 'may' be broken so I got all the bits. incidently I may be scrapping my sherpa/ldv 200 minibus that has the old diesel engine similar to the 'O' series, now that engine / 5 speed box would be worth putting in... so reliable and the bus pulls well even with a car on the trailer behind it.

Drove from Cheltenham to Marbella in a large 2.5 turbo van with trailer and SS, did about 20 mpg and clipped along at a steady 70 mph too, fully loaded.

Don, what about having the v6 reconned down at south wales pistons at lamby. Otherwise you allways said the old sherpa diesel was good but how difficult to fit ?

I have 4 essex V6's in garage, all require something to get them right. the one I have just fitted is a transit low compression 100bhp job... it is running [glow=red,2,300]BUT[/glow] the crank thrusts had gone -- the only ones I could get were .0020" where as I need .0060" no longer available SWP told me.... so dont trust it yet... but it is now auto not manual as b4. ...... there is always specialised engines for a recon if funds become available.

4 v6's, might sound daft but could you build a good one out of the four of them, I did that once with some A series engines. I still got a roll of cable on the van for you too LOL
