I'm back now. (Call me Arnie.)
Dunno what my heater was. Suspect it was a mini. Worked OK but it couldn't be turned off!
4 speed 2 litre box is best but I dont think it would stand the power of a V6.
Chaz.

4 speed is 'tough as old boots'. But whats wrong with the 5 speed V6 or diesel Type 9? Gearing too high? Need more power! ;D

;Dive ran a type 9, they just dont seem as sporty as a 4 speed... you look at all the tuned classic escorts, they run the 4 speed, it just has great ratios... powers not a problem, i have a 200 bhp hich revving zetec in mine... ;D

My 4 speed was very old. My V6 is not "mild"! The 5 speed ratios are not sporty but with the torque of 3.2 litres that's not a problem. The 5 speed will pay for itself with reduced petrol costs on motorways/autobahns/strada etc. There's always a choice with kit cars.
