Not quite sure what to make of this............ "TEAC hints at new model Every now and then, we're fed some information that's likely to come to fruition at a later date. Just such a thing happened when we received an email from Tim Naylor of TEAC Sportscars. Last Autumn, he sold the former Eagle SS project to a gent from Southern Ireland. The same man had also purchased the Midtec Spyder project. Will we see both return to the market? Tim also informed us that he himself still owns the ex-Eagle RV project and that it may be relaunched soon. But it was his closing statement that caught our eye the most. 'Meanwhile, I am working on a new model which, if things go well, will address the issue raised in the magazine regarding the loss of the GTM models.' Watch this space." The above is verbatum from the latest issue of Complete Kit Car magazine released today.

The RV project is owned by Tim's "ex-partner" not Tim so he doesn't seem to have too much say in it's future but with the price of a good CJ6 costing the same as a good RV I know which one I would go for. As far as any resurrection of the SS from Wexford we will have to wait and see. Personally I think the SS design as it stands is too old now and could only be the basis for insperation and certainly a new chassis and donor as even the MR2 we were going to use in 2006 is getting rare now and as with the beetle before it, one is more likely to restore it than use it as a donor unless the chassis is completely rotten.

I made tentative enquiries in buying the moulds and manufacturing rights to the RV but after costing it out reckoned that the cost of a basic chassis/body kit would have been too high to make the venture a financially viable proposition. The winning proposition would to produce the RV bodyshell for the Land Rover/Range Rover 4x4 running gear but who would bother when you could get a LR/RR resto project for similar outlay. I have been working on new car based on the old Pelland/Rembrandt concept and to date without a single finished car to be seen have splashed a serious amount of cash......a LOT more than the £3k that TEAC reckons to have spalshed out to date on revamping the SS. My car is nowhere near as complicated as the Midtec Spyder or the SS and therefore believe that considerable investment is required to bring these models back to the market-place........I wonder if these two cars will disappear for good ............I also wonder if TEAC has the financial commitment and energy to resurrect the GTM name. Tempis fugit I guess.
