We really need to come to a collective decision about the pitch! I honestly think that if we are all forced down to campsite then thats where most of us will be nearly all weekend. Im not happy about leaving my "zipped up" tent unattended with all my stuff in it while im on the pitch and not happy about leaving my "zipped up" vehicle unattended either. Considering our pitch position especially we are potentially gonna be having a lot of people milling around our pitch, this policy is not well thought out and goes against everything that the shows have represented over the years ive been attending. Is this just for newark or is it for stoneleigh as well moving forward? If it is the case i wont be attending stoneleigh. Id be interested to know how other members feel about this?

George, you can turn up on Friday and camp as I understand. It is being run by Grovenor who run Stoneleigh so the same arrangements. Just the one tent on the pitch and Graham is putting up the club marquee so we will be down the camping area. We can group together easily I would think. There has always been a camping area at Newark but we and others have always had room to camp on the club pitch but allas not this year. Looking at the plan other clubs have the same size area and are much more populated clubs, thats gonna be interesting. Whatever we will have fun.

Less than a month to go to Newark now so who's bringing there Eagle? please keep a space for my Eagle. I you choose to, what time would you anticipate erecting the marquee tent? As my son will also be coming and we may be able to help. Look forward to seeing you all. Thanks Mark.
We will be erecting the tent on Friday 12 noon or 2pm, and have accommodation booked for Friday and Saturday night. Should take an hour, now that we have seen how it all goes together. But have Saurday morning to finish it if needed.
Unfortunately, The Eagle SS has not been touched, and will not be at the show, as my back is still troublesome, and have had 2 house floods, and renovating two houses, 1 for sale and one to live in, and I just cant get builders to attend, as they are all mad busy since end of covid, and they pick and choose the most lucrative jobs first, so I have to do some jobs myself. It's urgent as am paying 3 council taxes, 3 utilities for 3, so cannot delay in finishing 2 houses with my limited movement.
Terry and John are welcome to try and put the trailer tent on the stand / plot, but they say no camping on the plot. They said at Stoneleigh, that breaking the rules ( Manufacturers must have a stand, if the club still has a manufacturer,, and no selling of goods unrelated to the club, no over night camping and any rules which are disregarded, the club will be asked to leave the grounds immediately.
However, I will back Terry if we can say ( if we need to ) This trailer tent is the kitchen for the Members, and has always been present for BBQ Saturday and Sunday breakfast (( for Members only ), although Terry ( Terryrob ) and John ( Gromit ) always seem to bring plenty of food to feed the occational none members )) Terry ( and others ) have financed all this for the last approx 10 years. I will have my own 2 burner camping stove if we encounter any problems.
Hope to see known faces and possibly new faces at Newark. It's only £ 5 to get in ( + I think £ 10 / 15 for passenger when arriving in a kit car going to be displayed on the stand / plot ).
EDIT - SEE NEXT LIST [2] FOR CAMPING INFO
Graham Wood.
Graham, If you are putting the club tent up there's no point in trying to get away with the trailer tent on the pitch. There probably isnt room for the two anyway. I thought it would be easier with the trailer tent instead of the club tent at this particular show as we would have all the facilities to hand and save you pulling the trailer to the show. All campers will have to get together in the designated area. Grosvenor have dropped a big clanger imo, it looks like they have only booked half the site to save money. Ok for day trippers but not for weekenders.

Good News
You can have the trailer tent on the Newark club plot AND sleep on the plot in the trailer tent and be the H.Q. for the Eagle owners club at Newark kit car show for this year.
I have been able to get a concession from Grosvenor shows, at much discussion.
Just the H.Q. ( trailer tent ) is allowed. No other tents / caravans
I hope this sorts out the previous problem.
ALSO, we were next to the planed Saturday evening entertainment stage. This is no longer the case. They are having the bar and entertainment in a building, and not next to our plot. Good news all round.
Therefore, as suggested, The large tent will not be at Newark, and the trailer tent can be the H.Q. And my trailer is past it's sell by date and needs to be scrapped. It's a home made one I bought, and it's disintigrating,
I will assume the trailer tent will now be at Newark and I will not be bringing the Club tent.
Please confirm.

perfectly fine with me!! Graham if you could get clarification from the morale police ( grosvenor ) if this is the new policy moving forward for both shows when you next speak to them it would be handy to know! If it is the case its just another nail in the coffin of the kit car world and shows! Considering the news ive heard this week about Westfield being in receivership and finished. The biggest kit car company and club by a mile will have big big ramifications going forward so little things like these stupid new rules will be the death nell for future shows and clubs!

Gromit we will worry about Stoneleigh closer to the time lol.Its gonna be interesting to see how many other clubs have come to the same agreement, we will have a good nosey around when we are there.

Terry + John.
1) Will there be a BBQ and Breakfast provided at Newark for members of the club ?
We all understand that this costs money, so if you wont be providing same, we will definitely understand.
Suggestion, If we are providing above, a £ 1 donation for each meal be suggested, to cover food and gas. and we leave it up to the members to decide to donate. Cheaper than a £2.50 to £3 a time burger at the catering trailers.
Note to members, this expence does not come out of club funds ( yet ) . We dont have enough members of the club yet, to allow for this ( not the forum )
Hopfully, the current members will rejoin next year & more members obtained to pay out of club funds, and also most members suggested we have bi-annual magazine as well.
2) Let me know if you still have "the badges" I supplied. 3) i assume you will be arriving about 2pm Friday to set up.. I'll be around about that time, as I pre booked accomodation, and don't get a refund if I don't use the Friday night accomodation. I was a few hours late at Stoneleigh, as the trailer had a pucture, - demolished the tyre, and had to return for the sizzor jack and block of wood and spanner to change tyres. silly me, forgetting the trailer had tyres.and no tools with me.
Thanks G.W.

was gonna ask if there was a plan for food! i dont mind bringing tea, coffee and a load of food for the bbq, got a brilliant butchers at the end of the road! might make sense to do food collectively if some are gonna be on camp site, some on pitch and some a day trippers. I know im a tight Yorkshireman but the cost of food and drinks at shows is getting excessive! Perhaps we can test the water and see if the other guys attending seem to think this is worth exploring? Hopefully might have got 1, maybe 2 new people to come join the club. How many members have we got? How many have said there coming?
And lastly im still waiting for my eagle owners club keyring, gold guilded membership card, name badge and owners club hat that can hold 2 cans so i can drink and slap terry at same time! lol

As I always saw Terry cooking at every show I attended, I assumed Terry supplied the food. Terry stated for the Stoneleigh show, there would be a BBQ on first night, and breakfast in the following morning and that people should bring their own food. I don't know if anyone brought food other then Terry.
If you and terry can liase with each other, and comment, that would be great. ( and if no food supplied by members, twist their arm for £ 1 )
Terry has intimated 4 people ( with eagles ) may be coming, but we never know till the day.
Your club card and other items.:- If you email me your FULL address, as the mebership form did not include the town / village nor county. I meant to ask, but things got in the way.
Am off to empty two dehumidifyers at one house, and do some renovating at another ( removing 7 foot tall fire surround ) to get old wall paper behind off. ( builders dont want small jobs round here ) so not here till Monday. So long as i don't bend my back - i'm fine.
Also, if you join the forum, you will be able to see attached images, and receive private messages.
Graham.

Ok, food,,,, what normally happens is that we ( me & Gromit ) calculate an excessive amount for the two of us or 3 if lyndon comes, then double it to be sure. This ensures there is usually a fair surplus which is gladly shared to hungry people. The barbi will be on Saturday evening to line bellies for the following beverage. I would say if people are camping for the weekend then they realy should bring what they need especially if we don't know they are coming. There is always the option of nipping to a shop if need be. Of course we can change this if people want food provided at a cost, but we need to know. Plenty of time yet, food is a last day buy. I would hate to buy too much and see it wasted.

I have not had any further messages / emails regarding cars needing space, nor people visiting.
So far we have,
Gromit (Jon ) ( full 2 days with Eagle )
Terry, George ( maybe with car )
George's dad
Dave D ( with Eagle )
Graham Wood G.Wood's partner. Mark ( full 2 days with Eagle )
Marks son
This list can only be appoximate, as some members are not on the forum, and as at Stoneleigh some did not know of the existance of the club.
Food items
I too have double camping burner and blue calor gas full bottle, Do I need to bring them if you have your own ? and Yes thanks for the offer..
I will be bringing an extra table or two, as terry borrowed one at Stoneleigh. If not used, no problem

Possible bad news. Having set off to Stoneleigh in my RV only for the brakes to fail completely, I was pretty sure that I was going to be able to bring the RV to Newark. All was well until Sunday but now I have two problems. Firstly there is a transmission problem - loud clonks and bangs at random times. Secondly, I have a violent steeering wheel wobble under acceleration. I'll make great efforts to sort out these problems by 23rd but I think that it would be best to leave me off the food list. I shall keep you all posted of any significant developments.

Ive got the twin burner bbq and 3 ring hob in trailer tent so should be enough to do food and drinks! Lets have this as a trial run for future reference. we can adapt or scrap as we see fit moving forward. I potentially see it being an opportunity to generate a little money for the club! Can someone ask mark if he and his son want to join the food list?

Whist driving the RV yesterday ( thankfully having just left the smart motorway section of the M5 in Worcestershire and whilst on an A road ) the propshaft said goodbye to the differential and introduced itself to the road. Hopefully two new UJ's will show that both problems have been cured. I have tried, and failed, to upload some photographs as attachments to this post. When my propshaft departed the rear axle, it was the 4 bolt flange that broke off the back axle ( all UJ's attached ) ( Passenger car )
Always get new UJ's fitted on any age of propshaft. Why, because if a 76 - 80 Cortina one was used it's now 42 years old, and grease congeals, goes hard, and no longer lubricates.
How do I know ? Because my 46 year old Lincoln UJ's started squeaking ( Thats what I diagnosed ) Car has today only done 18700 miles since new, ( Yes, eighteen thousand ) and there was no grease left in the UJ's and what little was there, was solid. So I got ones with a grease nipple. My windows were extreemly slow to open..... Again, getting the congealed grease off the rod guides and new grease applied cured that problem. ( and oiling rivited pivots )
So hope you get fixed for Newark.
Don't forget front wheel bearings, the two of them on each side. Don't want your wheels doing the same as the prop shaft !
to add photo to your posts, click in top right of your post -- Add attachment -- but this only shows ( i think ) if you "quote" a reply, and not a quick reply. Thanks Graham. I am trying out attaching an image of my RV with this post
PERFECT ------------ 694 PIXELS WIDE
When viewing on a "real computer" if it's cropped as shown below, there is no having to scroll up or down if it uses windows photo viewer. -after clicking pic' then enlarging it
Not complaining, just info.
Thanks.............. But, and i dont think you will want my shiny bumpers seeing that you have a mat black paint job.
Stainless steel bent into a channel, and tight fit, so only 2 self tappers required to hold.
Photo attached ( red tape has been removed )

Just wondering Dave,
Is that an attachment for rear machine gun ?
And where do you mount the front one.?

I know that your question was tongue-in-cheek, Graham but the answer lies in the fact that I have no roof, tilt or doors so I rely on a tarpaulin to keep the rain out of my RV when parked. I would like to tell you that what you see is indeed a Bren mount. However, the reality is much more mundane. What you see is a piece of polystyrene foam to prevent the metal protrusion from shredding the tarpaulin.
