1) from grosvenorshows.co.uk
Please find the plans for Newark Kit Car in July, on my master plan I have attached; it has the size of each block I will be marking out If you feel that the space is too big or to small please email me back and I will see if I can change things around for you.
At Newark there will be NO camping on CLUB SITES as space is limited and we have a dedicated camping area with shower blocks etc. Camp site is at the far end of our row.
EDIT - SEE NEXT LIST [2] FOR CAMPING INFO

No camping on pitch? ? Who has said that? That is a terrible idea!! Our pitch is right next to the open air music stage and outdoor bars. Im not leaving my car on pitch to walk for 20 mins to the campsite to see if anything has been nicked! Our pitch isnt big enough anyway! 15m x 10m, if 5 cars turn up it will be too crampt. Already has a downer on the show and we havnt even seen the weather forecast yet!

The pitch is tiny even for 5 cars as the tent will take up most of it. Jago have the same size for 10 cars lol but Knowing Gary he will change that. Its a steep hill down to the camping area, they have changed the site so much since 2014.

We have the LOWEST number of cars anticipated ( I did ask for 6 spaces ).
At Stoneleigh, we had no more than 4 cars on any day, so as I can't guarentee the number of cars that will attend, bearing in mind that the last / last but one,at Newark, there were no cars on when I visited. Then I can't quantify the number of cars, and if I can't guarentee the number of cars, then no way would the size be increased.
Space is 49 foot wide ( 15m ) x 22 ft deep ( 7m ) allowing for 3m wide tent stuck at the back along the 15 m,
Should be able to fit 5 / 6 cars on there.AND stated we would have a tent . Out of 35 car clubs, only 4 state they will have a tent, and allowance should have been made, but as the email states "space is limited" and "no camping" and it's not fair to have the space filled with caravans / tents etc when space is limited.

Might have to be just attend during the day and go back home in evening! Whats happened to newark showground? It used to be huge and more than enough room for everyone twice over! was really looking forward to newark!! Not so much now!

to hear.
But to put some perspective on the situation.
Stoneleigh had 3 Eagle cars on Sunday and Monday
BUT, we had 7 large items and 2 smaller items each day on the site ( rather a lot, don't you think ? )
1 Trailer tent, 1 large caravan, 1 tow car in front of caravan, 2 small tents, 1 car trailer and 1 tow car in front, my 1 small box trailer and my 1 car.
Yes, the number of cars attending was small enough to allow all these extras, but unfortunately, not at Newark.
Don't get me wrong, I DO appreciate all the assistance you and Terry have always given, and hope to give in the future, but to have more none Eagle cars, caravans and trailers than actual Eagle cars on the site ,( Newark ) IS pushing it a bit ! - do you not agree ?
We are not big enough yet to accept members only cars on a pitch.
I don't want people to think -- Oh, if I bring my EAGLE car to Stoneleigh, there will be no where to park as almost half of it is full of other cars, trailers and tents ! ! !
Currently, we will always be given a small site because records show we have a poor attendance record, and until we can get more members coming, the size wont increase. We should be able to accomodate 6 to 8 cars at Newark, and hope we have a better attendance than the last 2 years.
Regards Graham

Previous post quantity of none eagle items on the Stoneleigh pitch, changed to 9 items ( with 3 eagle cars on Sunday and Monday.)
The none Eagle items were 3 times as many as the number of Eagle cars on the stand.
Just saying.............the facts.

Post by gromit on May 26, 2022 22:31:07 GMT
9 non eagle items wasnt a problem at stoneleigh as the pitch was big enough! Even for the brief moment when we had 5 eagles on the pitch there was still room for 3 or 4 more eagles to be parked. Newark is different to stoneleigh as Lydon dosnt come so no car and caravan, if terry does come its likely he would come with me anyway. Not sure if george feels comfortable enough to drive his rv to newark as its much closer for him meaning no car and trailer. All that is left is the "Big Top", the box trailer it came in and your car. If Everyone has to go to far side of the site to camp, eat, drink, change, etc then the pitch is going to be pretty empty for big chunks of the day. Which does beg the question of "do we actually need the marquee?" In my honest opinion i think we will see a lot of people ( all clubs ) ignoring the request, arguing about it or not coming. Do we have any confirmations of who is actually coming? Its looking more and more likely that our pitch might be empty at newark again but only because of the morale police extinguishing what little joy there is left at the show!

"do we actually need the marquee?" Do we have any confirmations of who is actually coming? If it's pouring down with rain, you need cover. I got a 3 x 6m as a 3 x 3 would be a bit of a squeeze, and if raining / eats / meetings etc.3x3 standing room only
3x6 = ample room and takes up the space of an R.V. with room to open the doors. and swing the spare wheel carrier with some room to spare, so does not take up more than one car with space to be able to open the doors and walk round it, if in the open.
Do we have any confirmations of who is actually coming? answer = no, but we only got about 2 requests to reserve a space at Stoneleigh. yes there "may" be less at Newark, but some tried to make it but problems occured and they could not make it to Stoneleigh. Did you need the previous tent during the last 10 years. ( the one that blew away and then got lost when previous Chairman died ) Yes you did.
There are more information boards to hang in the tent : Members will know all about the SS or R.V. but most of the public wont.
We need more Members, We have to be seen to be professional, push the product, - you can't do that standing out in the open ( it is possible, but not preferable )
If it's raining Saturday evening / Sunday morning, there is room in the tent for a BBQ. One has to think of these things.
, but I don't make the Newark rules.

I have to commiserate with those who have traditionally used the club area with none Eagle items but things have changed and maybe not for the better, smaller sites and stricter rules that have to be observed. are a sign of the shrinking attraction of kit cars thanks to government restrictions and the nanny state which have resulted in smaller shows as the organisers balance attendance with costs. We just have to make the effort and show up IN OUR EAGLES. Juan Miguel and I that make up the Spanish branch do have a slight disadvantage though.
There at least a dozen Eagles that could be on the road and driven there but really important stuff like doing the weekly shopping or having to hang the new curtains or mowing the lawn seem to take precedence. Having to work is a crap excuse, everyone is entitled to a day off, even when I was self employed and mega busy I made time for a show at least once a year.

Well its gonna be interesting if Grosvenor wont allow camping on pitches. Were all gonna be busy putting our tents up down the camping area on Saturday morning. Who is going to be putting up the Marquee ? Need 4 people for a couple of hours, realy wish we had gone for a pop up ! don't forget its show day.

Just to clarify a few things. The marquee that blew away and then disappeared was mine! I bought it for the club to use and when it blew away many of the poles got bent and clips and joints broke so i binned it! Newark attendance previously cant really be taken into account as a guide as the last 3 years of the show were "Freakish". The last 3 years of newark show previously were 2 years of biblical rain 24hrs a day and resulted in no visitors to the shows at all then the final year the weather was amazing but still nobody came as they were still in counselling for the trauma of being at the previous 2 shows......... then they scrapped it! This whole camping situation is going to ruin the whole show! It might just be a case of saying "up yours" and camping on the pitch anyway! I think a lot of people will be doing this anyway as nobody wants to leave pitches and cars unattended and the flipside of that is leaving tents/caravans unattended when on pitch. We are in the worst place on site for leaving vehicles / pitches unattended! Right next to the evenings entertainment - meaning the first place people reach to leave empties, have a piss rather than walk to toilet block, etc. For those of us that are properly at the show and not just day visiting, we will be having to deal with that!

I had to drive the 7 miles back home around the N.Circular Road on the handbrake - nailbiting stuff! ). I made it to Stoneleigh in my modern car. My RV should be back on the road by beginning July and, excepting force majeure again, I'll be at Newark. If I need to reserve a place on the EOC stand then I would like to do so please.

I wasnt aware we had to request a space on the pitch as ive always just rocked up and hoped i wasnt the only eagle to turn up again. If we get the vehicle list updated we can enquire about vehicle condition and "encourage" all those with vehicles that "will be ready next year" AGAIN to get them to the next show! ;-) Perhaps my trailer tent is club headquaters AGAIN?

It's only manners to state / ask for a space, especially for those who have never been to Stonleigh / Newark, and don't know how many cas there will be there, especially if you are not a club member. We have never ( to my knowledge ) asked people ro reserve a place at the shows.
Yes there has always been space in the past, and yes I have tried to drum up support with me and Peter harrassing forum members to get their fingers out with our maybe "not so nice" condemnation to those with eagles slowly rotting away in garages. AND I wrote to every forum member stating that without members, the club may fold, and nearly folded last year with no funds, and next to no members, and has nearly folded twice before last year. I have worked hard behind the scenes to get more members, drum up interest, etc.
I understand that you can camp on the Friday ( Newark ) when you pay for camping, but only saw that on the 2020 camping form / info for clubs, and have asked for clarification.
Club headquaters will be the new tent, but if people want to hang round the Trailer tent, that's fine, no problem, when on the club stand.
We all appreciate yours and Terry's commitment at the shows, the cash you have spent to facilitate members and visitors; supplying gas and refreshments, and without you two, the club stand would be a dreary and lonely place. Please continue to do what you have always done, we all appreciate you, and you two were probably instumenatal the last 7 years in keeping the club "on the map" at shows. Again, much appreciated.
Graham.

Getting ANY formulation from owners is like pulling teeth. I can only ask, maybe if I was in the dreary UK and could afford the fuel I would visit as many as I could and see what the state of the cars are but I am not so I can only ASK.

Well to start the list of cars attending 1 Gromit 2 Dave 3 possibly George 4 Mark
Day trippers ? We always get by come whatever. I do suggest though that we use Gromits trailer tent as HQ, we may not have the manpower to errect the Marquee in a reasonable time on show day. I for one am strugling with neck and shoulder problems, the trailer tent takes 30 minutes. We need to sort this out.

Hi all, just like to say that you have a member here who would love to help more and get to shows and support the club. So far I have bought 3 RVs. One that is my baby and have used pretty much on a daily baises when possible for many years now. The other two I have saved from the scrap heap after being raped of their useful Ford parts to be used on other vehicles. One I have since parted with to a father and son who hopefully will revive it together and keep it alive. The other I hope to in the near future (chassis work commenced). I live in the middle Wales on the coast at Tywyn, far from anything. Life has got in the way of me coming to shows and I’m sure I’m not alone. I just want to to let you know that I’m aching to get to meet you all and share knowledge and experiences. I can only hope this happens soon but in the mean time I can only really help with any contributions that are needed (money etc) and what knowledge I have. Like you I want to see the Club flourish. So I would like to say All the very best with the show. Wiggy

Less than a month to go to Newark now so who's bringing there Eagle?
I managed to give my SS a good long distance test last weekend all good now, not so after Stoneleigh as in my haste to get it to the show there were still all kinds of fluid leaks.
All being well I will be there for the full 2 days of Newark so please keep a space for my Eagle.
I you choose to, what time would you anticipate erecting the marquee tent?
As my son will also be coming and we may be able to help.
Look forward to seeing you all.

Eagles attending so far are, you, Dave Dale, Grom, George. There will be room for you don't worry lol. As for the marqee you'l have to ask Graham. I have sugested that we use Groms Trailer tent as HQ for Newark as its far easier to put up and take down and has all the facilities we need to feed us, tea, coffee etc. I will be there I'me just not sure of my arrival time yet. You may have seen my thread with work on my RV, its not gonna make it

We will be erecting the tent on Friday 12 noon or 2pm, and have accommodation booked for Friday and Saturday night. Should take an hour, now that we have seen how it all goes together. But have Saurday morning to finish it if needed.
Unfortunately, The Eagle SS has not been touched, and will not be at the show, as my back is still troublesome, and have had 2 house floods, and renovating two houses, 1 for sale and one to live in, and I just cant get builders to attend, as they are all mad busy since end of covid, and they pick and choose the most lucrative jobs first, so I have to do some jobs myself. It's urgent as am paying 3 council taxes, 3 utilities for 3, so cannot delay in finishing 2 houses with my limited movement.
Terry and John are welcome to try and put the trailer tent on the stand / plot, but they say no camping on the plot. They said at Stoneleigh, that breaking the rules ( Manufacturers must have a stand, if the club still has a manufacturer,, and no selling of goods unrelated to the club, no over night camping and any rules which are disregarded, the club will be asked to leave the grounds immediately.
However, I will back Terry if we can say ( if we need to ) This trailer tent is the kitchen for the Members, and has always been present for BBQ Saturday and Sunday breakfast (( for Members only ), although Terry ( Terryrob ) and John ( Gromit ) always seem to bring plenty of food to feed the occational none members )) Terry ( and others ) have financed all this for the last approx 10 years. I will have my own 2 burner camping stove if we encounter any problems.
Hope to see known faces and possibly new faces at Newark. It's only £ 5 to get in ( + I think £ 10 / 15 for passenger when arriving in a kit car going to be displayed on the stand / plot ).
EDIT - SEE NEXT LIST [2] FOR CAMPING INFO
