Hi Folks, I shall be getting my car in the workshop soon, but, I am hoping to locate any literature etc, new or copied, for absolutely any details on the VW based RV/Jeep CJ. Hopefully someone out there has something and indeed obviously I'm happy to pay for anything that may be of interest. Surely there was a build manual for it, sadly it's not a JEEP, which I have accumulated quite a lot of literature, but this is a basic body off the 1972 VW and the Eagle body on.. Anything would be of interest if at all possible folks, Regards, Keep Safe, Titch p.s. struggling to work out how to put an image on...??

Hi Tich,
Good to see one of the very early RVs being rescued, not many left as they have been decimated by buyers for their VW parts and bodies scrapped.
Body wise it just bolts onto the VW chassis so the main work is on the rolling chassis and totally VW. manual.
As far as the body goes that is totally up to you as each and every RV is different from humble VW 1300 to mighty 4L V8 Rover 4x4 chassis monsters.
Trim, seats, doors/no doors, hard top, soft top. All down to your preferences, budget and skills,(and availability).
There are 5 on the EOC register, yours is VWRV5.

Hi Peter, Resto not actually started as yet... Come January it will be in the workshop. It is inside though now, first time in 10+ years..but it will get the treatment of the stove in my w/shop..I need it too! Parts availability is obviously going to be easy, and I fully intend to go 'right' through everything, and I mean everything, on the VW side that is. The Eagle body is in amazingly good condition too. What I wondered is that if Eagle produced any literature on putting this body onto the VW subframe, it just would make fascinating reading if so, that's what I'd like if anyone has absolutely any clue's or pointers.
Thanks all, Titch

As far as I know there isn't a build manual for the VW based cars as it was just a case of plonk the body onto a prepared VW rolling chassis The fuel tank position I think was in the front, easy on the SS as it goes into the space under the rear widow but the RV is different. On the Ford build it's on the rear chassis frame.
On the technical page of the EOC site are a lot useful tips and guides.

Thanks Peter, only I have to confess, I have found the 'build sheet' It's fairly typical of it's day, typewritten, basic but interesting all the same. It was some of the literature that I got from the previous owner and apon looking through..there it was. If anyone should need or want a copy I will happily print off a copy. Regards, Titch.
