Hi there, is there anyone able to supply, advise on the wiring loom for an April 1972 VW that my Eagle is based on. Also can I obtain a wiring diagram or will that be simply a 'Google' search or Haynes manual for the Beetle? Many Thanks, Titch

You can google for it, there are a lot of examples about, a few are quite good.
A Haynes manual would also cone in handy.

Most of the VW suppliers like machine7 and herratige sell wiring looms. They are made to fit a beetle so may need to shortening or lengthening of the wires to suit your car.
I built my own loom using the vw wiring diagram as a reference. There isnt anything clever about the beetle wiring and anybody can do it. If you choose to make your own, you can add relays for the high current switching bits such as the coil and starter motor solenoid. I dont think its much cheaper to make your own, but gives you flexibility.
We are always here to help.

Hi Folks, thanks for the input here yes. Manual (Haynes) already on it's way, though past experience wasn't too favourable with wiring diagrams.. however..'Don't judge a book...' as they say. And yes used VWP many times, I like them.. Plenty of kit here for bike projects over the years, and my beloved pickup, which is taking up my time after work..if there IS any time left these days..
Dare I ask, is there a link to a simplistic diagram for my Beetle electrics anywhere.. you know, in laymans terms etc...
Thanks all, will look back in later... Titch

You can get the actual beetle wiring disgtams for all years on the samba. The only bit that isnt obvious is the charging system, either the generator or alternator.
If you google just for the charging system diagram, use that as a reference. everything else is just standard relays and switches. You can go the route of using relays for everything like I did or you can spend a bit more money on switches and do without the relays. Its really simple, honest.

Many builders are OK and install a standard loom UNTIL it gets to the none VW dash and instruments they want. in my case an Astra GTe digi-dash. luckily it's analogue, the rest, apart from pop u`p headlights of course, is standard.
