News Letter No 3. Frame and tub graft (with bonus video walk round on Face book Eagle SS Build)
You will all be pleased that from now on it is less writing and more picture or video’s. In the previous news letter I told you that I intend to graft a frame onto the tub. My first concern was the wheel base matching and although as the pictures show me using low tech measuring, first impressions is yes I think it matches. I am not that worried if it had been off as the frame is going to be cut and bracing fitted but it look like a bonus time saver. So next week I will start cutting away the key superstructure of the frame like the roll cage, the scuttle and the transmission tunnel. As I want to keep as much of the frame as possible to give the tub additional support I intend to position the tub over the frame and lower it down bit by bit to minimise the amount of metal framework being cut out. I hope you enjoy a brief video clip of the frame and the tub. Happy building.
Steve.

Due to a buyer misunderstanding with e-bay I am again advertising this unique opportunity to build a very limited number kit car. The shell is in excellent condition with very few body marks it comes complete with all it glass which is already fitted. The impressive hinged and working seagull door are full working and fitted. Spotless interior shell. The project comes with a very clean Mazda MX5 donor car with a V5 and for those who have ever built a kit will recognise that the donor car will supply nearly all the parts need for the build.

I would think Peter that the chassis could be modified to use MX5 parts. Its an Ideal donor if it can be done.

I would think Peter that the chassis could be modified to use MX5 parts. Its an Ideal donor if it can be done. It has been tried by TEAC which you may remember included me for a while. It will need a completely new chassis to take MX5 donor. Any attempt to fit the Mazda to the Eagle chassis, even the later one, will result in yet another project in a skip.
The car is far from "rare" as new ones can be bought and there are 82 Ford and 21 VW SSs listed so far.

It would be good to see a successful Mazda project, there have been a few similar including MGF/Lotus, etc but none have been even half finished. It isn't the competent of the mechanic that is in question, it is the practicability and economical reality of it all. Without exception all the wishful projects to date have been by people with multiple projects and rather than having just one headache they seem to have a yard full of half finished vehicles.
This NOT my opinion but a testament of fact. The few that have been finished have been a concentrated effort on one vehicle.
I am in the multi-vehicle group but more by necessity than choice as I have to maintain three cars and a bike as well as the SS.
