Hi all and thanks for letting me join.
I have a RV (Q635 DAJ) and am in the process of getting it back on the road. If any one has any history about this car it would make the process a lot easier and will be greatly appreciated. I particularly would like to know what the donor car was as I need to order new bushes and a few other bits and bobs.
Regards,
Andy.

Hi, Andy. If the engine is in the front, it will be a Mk3, 4 or 5 Ford Cortina. I think most suspension bushes will interchange between all 3 types. If the engine is in the back, it's a Volkswagen.

From what I cab see it is a Ford Cortina 2L Pinto based car. Check engine number against list on E.O.C. technical page- ( www.eagleownersclub.org.uk/Technical/All%20Pinto%202L%20codes.htm ) It was not on register, is now awaiting update. Could you please tell me location, this helps other members who might be nearby and can help or just want to be nosy and pop in. DVLA details are. (I have removed none revilement details). Vehicle make EAGLE RV Date of first registration March 1987 Year of manufacture 1987 Cylinder capacity 2000 cc Fuel type PETROL e Export marker No Vehicle status SORNVehicle colour WHITE Wheel plan 2 AXLE RIGID BODY Date of last V5C (logbook) issued 17 January 2020

I am near Wisbech, north Cambs. I am happy with the engine side of things. I am in the middle of changing the clutch as I had a water leak from the core plug behind the fly wheel, so as the gear box and everything else had to come out I though I might as well change it. But from the part numbers on the old one it was coming back as a clutch from a 1.6 (190mm plate with 20 spines). Seems that this car has been made out of what ever was laying about.

Hi Andy.
Do you know if it's a 'Pinto' engine? You can post a photo on here for us to ID it if you like (https://imgur.com/ works well and is free. You can continue to post photos of your refurb on it :-) )
From a quick Google, it seems that the number cast into the block is on the exhaust side; 20 or 205 if it is a 2 litre, 16 or 165 if a 1.6. (the '5' is a latter, superior version I believe).
Is the gearbox 4 or 5 speed?

It’s definitely a 2ltr pinto, it has the 20 on the block just below the exhaust manifold. The gearbox is a 4 speed.

It’s definitely a 2ltr pinto, it has the 20 on the block just below the exhaust manifold. The gearbox is a 4 speed. Very likely from a Mk3 Cortina, then, just like mine; the earlier '20' block and modest 4-speed 'box. I'm fairly familiar with the parts used in my RV, so if there's anything I can help with please ask and I'll do my best. I also have a Cortina Mk3 Haynes manual, so if there's any stuff from there that might help you, please ask.
