Wanted to say thanks for the add to the site. So I picked this one up that was for sale on various sites recently and I think was discussed on here. I've now started stripping it to see what ive got and aside the busted screen, sun bleached body, knackered hinges, no engine or box and some weak points in the tub, its in pretty good shape. Im over in Shropshire making good use of the lockdown working on the car. PS I'm an Optimist so this seems the perfect project for me. Dave

Welcome. Looks like it's in a decent condition, nice place to start.
Lots of advice on this forum, few of us have been at it for many years.
Screens are available new but they are not cheap and have a long lead time. There is a few second hand ones for sale on here too.
Best advice i can give you is to aim to get it roadworthy before any huge mods. Lots of these projects die when the owner gets in too deep.
Looking forwards to your build thread.

Hi and welcome aboard. Please feel free to ask any questions as we have been there done that or rather 'doing that' in most cases. Myself it's been 16 years and counting, I keep coming up with plan B, C etc. Up to plane R I think.
That screen looks like a straight forward crack so try the new glass repair liquids that are about, they do work and I have used it to cure the delamination on mine.
I see you have attacked the bodywork already but the best way is to get that off and sort out the chassis first, brakes, steering, lines, fuel tank?, wires, etc than plonk the body back on, get that straight (doors etc), and then start fiddling with it. try to avoid grand ideas like a big engine, high performance etc, 20200 body styling, it's the kiss of death.
Don't know if you have previous experience on kit cars, (would love to know) but the SS has a set of problems all its own so don't hesitate to ask us, we have been there and done that or rather 'doing' that in most cases, I have been 16 years on my 'rebuild' and actually going over stuff I did back in 1995 when I built it, such as changing poly engine mounts (that crumble) for OEM ones.
Keep us posted, we love photos and updates.
Peter
