Hi all, I'm looking for an Eagle RV shell, preferably with doors and a roof to rebody a Landrover Discovery 300tdi with a good chassis but rotten body. The shell doesn't have to be in great condition, but complete.
A few clicks around the Internet finds a few others that have done something similar. I'd be interested to know what challenges others have found who have done something similar.
I've read that many RVs have been stripped for their Ford parts, so if anyone has a shell, or knows of one that might be available, it would be an opportunity to get one back on the road.
Many thanks

Yes , it has been done and there WAS a special body for the job, in fact several, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Range Rover, Discovery. but all needed some work to fit.
Standard RV body was originally made for the VW floor pan so the wheel base is the same as a beetle. about 95" and the later Ford version on the Eagle chassis followed the VW form and later ladder type had the same wheel base.
So measure your donors wheel base and see what need doing. sometimes it is easier to stretch the body (from a point behind the doors) than to chop the chassis.
As a 're-bodied' Rover it shouldn't need BIVA.

Thanks Peter. Rebodying a 4x4 with its original unmodified chassis, suspension, and running gear would avoid an SVA, making the idea really attractive. In my mind an adapted RV shell would be perfect.

Eagle RV On Range Rover Chassis (shortened) I hate to say this but check out Pilgrim and Jago also. RV / VW wheelbase 2413 or 95.48" Discovery 118" so a stretch of 22" needed. Apologies for crude Paintshop pro job. But gives an idea of stretched RV.
Jeep Wrangler 95.4", spot on. Renegade 101.18" Range Rover 2992 or 117.8" So you need to cut and extend RV by 573 or 22" The Daihatsu on the other hand is near enough perfect at 95.28" less than an inch in it. Suzuki Vitara 98.4" (+3") Land Rover MkII either too long (142.4") or too short (88") Gives you some ideas.

Thanks for all the wheelbase lengths. They aren't too important to me as I'm intending to build something along the lines of a jeep scrambler (cj8) The dimensions won't be quite right in the picture below (if I've successfully uploaded it correctly), but the idea is along these lines. I don't know the pilgrim, but I'm afraid I've never liked the Jago. I remember a neighbour building one around 30 years ago and wondering why he hadn't built an Eagle instead! Attachments:

Like where you are going with that. bit too long for my taste but that is just me, I would love it in wood too.
Wheel base info was for general consumption.
