Removing SS Cortina fuel tank.( Ford 2000 cc front engine )
Before I start, it looks a bit tight in there, so does any one know if it can be removed without taking the body off ?
Thanks.

I have not worked on an ss so don't know. There may be a chance that it might drop down from under the car, you'l have to jack it up and have a look. No doubt someone will know.

Looked, visualised, a few inches missing. If I remove the back axle and top trailing arms, it may come drop down, but may not have time for that, but I just want to pull it out sideways, but don't think it will. Hope to get to Stoneleigh with it next month.

I think when I fitted the tank to my car I disconnected the shock absorbers so that the axle would drop a little. the manual tells you to shorten the filler neck and fit a rubber joiner when you build the car, so where the neck was cut may effect getting the tank in and out.
