Hi Terry. It looks like it's been scrapped. I've had a look through a lot of other Kit Car club forums and they are all asking the same question. Also, it doesn't appear on any of the magazine "What's On" calenders for 2014. Big shame. I guess they were losing money.

I have heard it's extremely expensive to use the Newark showground. Even the "Americana" festival, (which has been at Newark for donkeys years), has moved this year. It's now at Prestwold Hall, near Loughborough. This looks like a really good venue and includes a race / test track. Would probably be great for a kit car event.

Rocar contacted C.K.C. on this and the return was not sure exactly what's happening but will ask questions There mag lists it as date TBC.
So unless they are planning another venue and date it looks like it is a NO SHOW which is a great shame as I too always liked Newark.
It's a shame that they never spoke to the clubs before they got into a position that it is not viable, maybe they would of had to start charging a small fee, but would that have been such a great hardship... even a £5 a head for the weekend for kit car drivers it would have been cheaper than parking in our local town centre car par for three hours.
I think the problem comes from the people who give it the "WITHOUT US THEY WOULDN'T HAVE A SHOW" Just my opinion but there you are.

All the others clash with show dates for the Mustang Owners Club GB. I think you are right regarding the moaners about paying an entrance fee. I organise the MOCGB event at Duxford IWM every year and drivers get a massive discount on normal admission fees, but there are still those who think they should get in for free. In fact, I even heard of one guy who thought that the organisers should actually pay him for bringing his car! John

If Newark has indeed been scrapped and Exeter, I feel it is the thin edge of the wedge. Here we don't have such shows, which is a shame but Europe in general doesn't have a kit car culture like the UK or a custom car culture like the USA, in fact such cars are made very difficult to register and run. Car clubs here tend to be old farts like me with vintage and classic cars having a lunch meeting once a month.

Breaking News! There will be no Newark Kit Car Show in 2014
Kevin and Lesley Musson, aka, Newark Promotions are sad to report that Newark 2013 was the last in a long line of Newark Kit Car Shows.
For many reasons and only after long deliberation, we have come to the conclusion that it is no longer possible to sustain the show without unacceptable financial risk. As well as the unfavourable economic climate, in the last six years we have experienced and recorded the wettest, the coldest and the windiest events in all of the 31 years. We have had an unlucky run and there is no doubt that the climate in the UK has changed. This along with other factors has resulted in the decline in attendances. This has also occurred at a time when the costs for putting on such a show have increased dramatically.
The fact that the Newark Showground made the huge error of allocating the wrong weekend for our show in 2014, meaning the event would clash once again with the Le Mans 24hr race, was the final straw.
Sadly, the industry has now lost one of its flagship shows. All that remains now is for us to thank everyone that has helped along the way. This has to start with Alec and Hilary Trueman, our original partners. Without Alec, we doubt that the show would have ever got off the ground. Also, we must thank Peter Filby, whom we managed to convince that our idea would be a success. We even borrowed the title of his magazine "Alternative Cars" for the original show title. We must thank "the mob", our team of willing volunteers and friends that proudly formed our staff for the weekend and without whom we could not open the gates to the visitors. There are many institutions and past sponsors who deserve thanks, they know who they are. Then there are the exhibitors. We include the manufacturers, trade stands, autojumblers, craftsmen and women, and modellers. Last, but certainly not least, the kit car clubs and their members. Thank you. There are so many great memories and most of all, it was fun. We are pleased to have made many lifelong friends through this venture.
Newark Promotions would like to thank all of our customers and partners for their valued support and wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
Kevin, Lesley and the rest of the Newark Kit Car Show team
Exeter has also gone its been replaced with a show at Mavern run by the same people, if the clubs grapevine is correct.

I can't see how the show ground owners can fail to make a lot of money, I mean all the stall owners have to pay, the catering trailors have to pay a huge fee, they make money in the restaurant and bar plus gate money. At the moment there is a horse show on the 15th and a scooter rally on the 20th. Surely the kitcar show would bring in more. Or is it that they charge tkc too much.
IGNORE ALL THIS i JUST READ GARY'S POST, must have been typing same time as me !

I think your post is relevant as an addition to Gary's. Good point made. It is sad that in this day and age it all boils down to cash, what the hell happened to doing stuff for FUN! "There is a scooter rally on the 20th (20th-22nd)", now, as a life long scooterist and one of the original 1960's crowd that started it all, I know that scooter rallies do not generate huge sums of money, it is very much a club level thing, so how they can afford Newark, (LCGB, BSRA, SWSC, SCSW, VCB, put on over 16 events a year in the UK plus 4 in Europe, plus the racing), and kit car clubs cannot put on half a dozen is beyond me. Maybe it's time for the clubs to unite and put on shows FOR kit car owners BY kit car owners and for that we need a stable and effective national voluntary body to coordinate it, and it wouldn't hurt if that body could officially speak on our behalf to the powers that be too. There are several all encompassing 'kit car' web sites but they are blogs by individuals not 'official' bodies.

Donnington has been confirmed 30-31st August 2014 on Stafford's facebook page although it still isn't on Donnington's site yet. so, so far that's Stoneliegh and Donnington for 2014. Makes it all more important for all members of all clubs to attend if we are to have ANY at all next year.

I was really looking forward to Newark this year, it was my aim to drive the Eagle to its maiden show what a shame. I've done a few antique fairs at Newark and at close by Swinderby, Swinderby could host the show no problem, it’s only a stone’s throw from Newark. Its an old RAF base, perhaps the powers that organize would consider this as a alternate venue.

That would be good, problem is the people who organise these events USED to be enthusiasts but now days it's mostly about making a profit which is why I think a national kit car association run on a not for profit basis by clubs would be best..

Just to hammer home the point is seems DETLING has now gone too, so leaves Donninton and Stoneleigh, at the moment Going Going Going.... A great location would be just South of Gloucester on an old RAF base, can't put my finger on the name but we help our areas effort of the world record line dancing attempt there, I was an adjudicator. Large area outside and a HUGE hanger. I will come to be, maybe.
Looking at it, there are loads of old WW2 airfields about, some with hangers that are more or less empty, so if one says three annual events in the North say Yorkshire area, one in the South East, say Cambridgeshire and one in the South West Gloucestershire area, two months apart say (Stones in May at the moment) June, August and October so we miss the worst of the weather. close to the motorway network and CHEAP. Using Google Earth it could be done.
