I know something I'm needing if you're not using the cortina front sub frame. Does your car have an anti roll bar on the front ? If so you should have two brackets that secure the front of the anti roll bar to the chassis. Also its where the bushes are located. I'm needing replacements as mine are rotten.

hello Brett I've taken some pics today I can't for the life of me remember if it has one on,didn't pay it much attention to be fair as not using it. i'll have a look see if has if I can't tell fom pics i'll have a look tomorrow when I go back up to the unit Monday or tuesday should see the parts I don't want taken off I can let you know then for sure if they are there,if they are I don't want them was gonna sell the whole subframe as one unit but a couple of my mates seem to think I should strip it to individual components, worth more I should think, not sure I have the time as it's not directly involved in the project I'm doing and I have enough on that I'll let you know

Hi Gaz. I don't know whether the screen is available from a 'production' car, but - being completely flat - isn't it just a case of having one made up by yer local glass specialist? I don't think it's any more complicated than having a 6mm thick (or less?) laminated pane made up to your template. It'll likely need a 'BS' standard embossed on it to show conformity, but again that's pretty standard stuff whenever you have a laminate or toughened window pane made. (But don't shoot me if I'm wrong!) Where are you based? Will you be parting with the existing engine and 'box too? If so, is it a type 9 'box?

Both the RV and the 2+2 use Ford screens as far as I know, I think the RV is a rear screen and the 2+2 Escort front. All glass should be marked now. Just checked the build manual and Pilgrim cars sierra version (no longer made) and they do not mention a donor screen so I guess it was Eagle made and supplied with the frame for the kit but standard flat screen is easy to get cut and stamped. Unfortunetly Richard has just chopped up and binned a VW version RV that was going free.

The RV screen was supplied by Eagle with the kit. It is just a flat piece of glass.
Best and cheapest option is to contact a windscreen company who put glass into plant, tractors ect as these people tend to be able to cut to size and either use safety glass or get it toughened.

I understand laminated is the way to go these days. In the days of toughened glass, one chip got you an exploding windscreen!
But, your local windscreen/ glass company will be able to advise.

laminated That's it I just couldn't get my head around the word I wanted so I wrote safety glass . most will only sell you LAMINATED glass if you mention windscreens. Laminated (there I think I've got it now)

Hello every one maverick for not getting in touch sooner bin busy, both the brackets in question are probably the same as yours you wouldn't want them any how both have had welding and not ever so nice ( no gas and too much wire by the look) The bits I got where chassis and body with a few brackets an bits no engine, box, axle or gear box or much else The project stands at the moment all landrover mods have been done ie chassis shortened, out rigger's made and put in place body mountings made and put in place body cut to clear where required and fitted to chassis, exhaust made and fitted engine bay wiring done battery tray made and fitted engine run. Many things to do some being a bit problematic,i have had to move the whole engine transmission back in the chassis to allow clearance up front for a rad,the nose of the water pump touched the front grill !!! this has been done and has actually allowed me to swop the prop shafts around so I don't have to have any made which is nice the new headach is the steering column as the original disco unit leaves the steering wheel up against the dash ! so needs to be longer am working on that one,can cut and weld but am looking at other landrover options or a mixture of I let you know how that goes but all in all this is a week old project in terms of hours spent on the job and I am happy with the progress so far i'll try and load some pictures up later but have taken so many they need sorting in to some kind of order and if any one has a hood for an rv I would be most interested I have a week off after this one so i'm looking to mot then ! fingers crossed i'm aiming for on the road by the end of september so that's about it for now busy week ahead but i'll find some time somewhere to do more regards Gaz

Oh yeah On the windscreen front laminated is the way to go a local plant company can cut me one to suit on site but can't mark it so technically it won't be road legal, the guy was very helpful and was going to make some enquiries regarding getting this done but I haven't had time to chase him on that yet,job for next week.
I have been told a landrover 90 screen fits and I have managed to borrow one but haven't tried it yet, again a job for next week i'll let you all know how that goes.
much to do work keep getting in the way of my own garage time : )
Thanks to every one for all the replies keep em coming regards Gaz

Blimey, that's some progress A glass company shouldn't have any trouble making you a screen should you need to go that route - every pane they make for low-mounted domestic doors and windows have to come with 'kitemarks', so adding this decal shouldn't be an issue. Mind you, if a Landie 90's fits, that's easier still, and will be very useful info if you confirm. Great info too for anyone wanting to fit an RV bodyshell on a Land Rover! Who'd have thought that moving the engine back a bit would mean the props could be left uncut! I doubt you'll have much trouble sorting the steering wheel issue; there are so many columns available on eBay for next to now't, most with UJs and all sorts on them too. Since you obviously can weld, that should be an easy one for you! Just today, as I was looking at dashboards on ebay, I came across steering columns for the Seat Ibiza of all cars, and noted that it was a neat unit with UJs at both ends - I made a mental note that, should I ever need such a thing... You have the world of production-car steering wheels available to you too. I just fitted a near-new Mondeo wheel on to the Cortina shaft by angle-grinding the 'boss' from the Cortina item, hole-cutting out the Mondeo's, and then bolting the two together with SS bolts. It's a decent sized wheel (14.5" I think) and feels really nice - and looks the part too. Total cost was less than a tenner. Is your bodyshell a Mk1 or 2? If the latter, I might be selling off my own hardtop and solid doors later on if that's of interest. I haven't fully decided yet, tho', but it's just an item I'm very reluctant to use - I like being topless regardless of the weather... Looking forward to seeing some photos!
