The name 'Piggy bank' has nothing to do with pigs or the shape of the pig shaped thing you pop your loose change in. In old English, 'pygg' meant clay as in clay pot, so loose change was saved in a clay or pygg pot, later corrupted to pig pot and thus inspired into a pig shaped pot or bank, now wasn't that interesting boys and girls
