Jason, You are a valued mamber of the club and have assisted me on numerous occasions. I for one would be very unhappy to see you go, and for a real non-reason, if that makes any sense! This sort of tiff is what drove a wedge into the Nova site and I really do not whant a replay of that here. I am sure that Peter did not mean to upset you and was just pointing out his point of view and had probably had a very trying day. Please accept a big thankyou from me for sorting out membership cards. Peter, I really do not want to see a tiff like this growing out of control, a la the Nova incident. I can fully appreciate your frustrations trying to meld a bunch of wasters, such as myself ;D, into a cohesive unit and fully accept your point of view. Jason was only trying to help and should be applauded for that even if the result is not quite what you were expecting. Even if, once these have run out, we get some more we have not been caused the expence of new cards at this moment. The club is short of "real" members as it is and I would not like to lose Jason. To you both, Please accept that neither of you meant it the way it came accross, agree that everyone was actign in the best interests of the club and shake hands. Friends?

Me too, Jason. Unlike some in the past, I have not disappeared when moving house and all the stress of the Spanish legal system, such as it is, (only those who have been there, done that and got the T shirt would appreciate what that entails). As well as work and coping with the worst year for sales and rentals in a decade on the Costa del Sol which puts my future employment in question, as well as trying to keep the site together and the club informed, (NO I don't run it). so no pressure. So if I have upset anyone, Jason included, I´m , but please try to put yourselves in my shoes and understand a bit please Peter

Peter, I do understand, I really do! I have enough trouble holding the family together each time we move, 10 moves so far and it is only our ninth wedding anniversary in Dec this year. That coupled with the constant deployment, or threat of deployment just causes strain. I do not even have the additional hassle of running such a great website resource. You are therefore to be commended and praised for your efforts. I was not trying to criticise, far from it, I am in awe of the amount that you do. I was merely trying to prevent a split in the core membership of the club. These sort of incidents can easily spiral out of control and cause untold damage when there is really no need. We are all aware of the massive amounts of time and effort you put into the club and are all very grateful. Long may it continue, Jon

Peter, You can be anything that you whant to be! Only don't shout at the soldiers, or recruits, or tell them off, or say anything that might upset their delecate constitutions, ar indeed do anything that could wind up completely misrepresented as fact in a national newspaper! IE anyhting on a slow news day! "Recruit in Deepcut Shock!" A recruit has arrived at the notorius Deepcut death camp and survived a whole night without being brutally assulted we learnt today. Sorces from within the camp are looking into the facts and assure is that the individual will be singled out for double treatment tonight. etc, etc, etc. You would not enjoy it anymore, its just like baing a soldier without the soldier bit!

I must admit the only people (if one can call them that) who like being beasted were my cadets, they loved it! problem was as I didn't swear like a trooper they called me "Sir" and that got me in deep water with the inspecting officer one year because although I was a Sergent I was also platoon commander and being a bit more civil than the average NCO their answer when asked why they called me sir was," he doesn't act like a Sergent, more like an officer". My bother in law to be was a W.O. in the SAS (now head of security for B.P. Egypt) is the most unlikely SAS soldier let alone a W.O. I have ever met!, mild mannered, glasses, slim, a long way from my CSM Jack Stathers in 1960 who was straight out of WWII and National Service, shortish, built like a bull bog and LOUD, VERY LOUD who put the fear of God up you but could also be a father to the young lads far from home for the first time if needed, but a walking cliche for all that but we did what we were told, when we were told in the menner we were taught, without question or answering back (God forbid!) but still thinking for yourself as well. Happy days, I miss them a lot some times. Take the advice of an older man Jon, whatever you are offered, however green the grass seems over the hill, stay put, put up with it and go for the pension. The army spends years and millions of pounds training and programing soldiers and about 50 quid undoing the work so they can join civvy street.

Time out fellas! I go on holiday and look what happens!
Our tiny club needs you both.
We only have a few active members and if there is going to be fighting in the ranks we might as well not bother.
You are both vital members of the club and it will be the club that suffers if you cant hug and make up.
All thanks and credit to Peter I know how much time he puts into the club, believe me, I tried it. It is a full time job! Peter is keen to establish some branding, but we do need membership cards and better some than none.
To be fair, Peter, you haven't stamped the new logo all over this site the banner at the top has different designs of eagles on it, so is it such a big deal?
Personally I think the cards Jason has had made look fantastic, they are far to good not to be used.
Jason was trying to help, it may not be as Peter wanted but at least it was one task that Peter didn't have to do. I am very pleased that someone was helping and trying to move the club forward.
If there were some of the old membership cards left we would use them up regardless of branding - wouldn't we?
Lets move on. If all members want to agree that only one design is used in future. This will mean that it needs to be one members responsibility to order all club goodies. Volunteers?
Here is where I go all Jerry Springer: When it comes down to it, this club was dead. Like a Phoenix a few people rose it from the ashes, (you know who you are) lets build on that and not act like eagles - preying on the weak spots.

Well Said Simon I was trying to post along the same lines myself, But you saved me the effort ( That's Mates for you) As regards the Bob issue!! I think, (unless the world turns on it's axis) We can safely say that the club gazebo, banners etc are lost without trace! We had the same situation in the SE Region of the Cobra Club, Where we were stongly critisied for the lack of Club regalia on the stand we had at Detling this year by other members (All club regalia had gone AWOL) So.... A few Key SE members chipped in and donated/bought our own gazebos, flags etc and blagged a couple of banners from sponsers. It didn't cost the earth, But it sure makes a difference www.cobraclub.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=3761
