If anyone is interested, I'm in the process of ordering a screen from Pilkingtons (triplex). The cost currently comes in at around £500 + delivery and vat. Still waiting to hear if they come with a black border and a tint.
I am replacing my original screen due to some small areas of delamination on the edges. The screen is definitely useable and could be an economic solution for anyone on a tight budget. It has no caracks or scratches and if I wasn't such a perfectionist, I would reuse it myself. BTW, it has a friend in similar condition that is also for sale. Cost for either £250 collection only.
I have other fibreglass body sections to sell off too. Wing, bumper section, rear window tunnel and trim, I'll put something in the for 'sale section' as soon as I stop fiddling with the car.

In the past there has been owners looking for screens but the price has always been high. Cars have been scrapped for this reason in the past,,,,big shame. Thanks for your info hopefully some cars may get screens.

Still playing ping-pong with emails to and from Pilkingtons.I can't understand how anyone manages to get a difinitive answer from them.
I have in my workshop, two Triplex Sundym screens, one tinted with a black border, the other clear with no border. Pilkingtons tell me (via their contact) that they have NEVER produced a Eagle SS screen in Sundym and only screens for the Nova were black bordered. I've offered to send photos to prove that, at some point, they DID but so far they hav ignored the offer.
If these screens are produced to order, surely a tinted, black bordered laminated screen is not beyong the scope of a company like Pilkingtons!?
If I ever get the answer I need to place an order, I'll pass on the info.
BTW I read somewhere that Polycreations were being reccomended as a source of screens, , their representative, (who's information must not be quoted, reffered to, reproduced or otherwise disseminated, at least according to their email legal jargon) only supplies fibreglass parts for the Eagle SS. As I have read this response elsewhere, I thought I'd risk passing it on!?

My screen is a sundym too. people had success a few years ago getting screens from pilkington. There was a big effort made, you can see in the earlier posts on this thread.
They definitely can make the screens, not sure about the border. They are probably not called sundym anymore.

Thanks for the link Peter,
I don't suppose you know the right paint to use to create the border, it's notoriously hard to get paint to stick to glass and I believe the factory bake an enamel on at high temp. I would worry that the screen adhesive would pull the paint off and the whole screen wave goodbye as it esacped over the back of the car on the motorway.

Two methods, one is buy some on eBay and the other is paint a thin coat of thinned down sealer having masked up.
