It's on a "Q" plate, so will never qualify for Historic Vehicle Status. It will always be subject to MOT regulations and paid excise duty.

I just saw that. Considering it's basically complete and a potential runner, It doesn't seem a bad price.

Really to hear of your ticker trouble, Peter. Everyone will say "Take it easy", but I'm my own worst enemy, in that respect. I had no idea that I had anything wrong with me until a routine medical at 61 years of age, revealed a slightly leaky valve. After a week of hospital tests, they declared that I was born with a "Bicuspid Aortic Valve". . . . . 61 years and I never had a clue! I got my new valve at Papworth. Recovery went well and, nearly four years on, I feel great. I retired last year, but now find I'm doing all the stupid things I was doing in the past. I just can't slow down or take it easy. . . life is short and there's a lot to fit in. Good luck, Peter. Keep at it, mate. John.

Best wishes, Peter. A-Fib is a bloody pest. My mother and sister suffer from it and have both been hospitalised on more than one occasion. I had it, a few days after having my mechanical aortic valve fitted, but fortunately, the cardioversion set it right on the first hit and I've not suffered it since (nearly 4 years, now). Good luck, hope everything works out for you and you stay well.

Holy cow it's a small world! Please tell me why the headlights don't work. I'm excited to get stuck in. , Harold. As far as I can remember, they worked fine when I sold it. The buyer drove it away in the dark. John.

Welcome! Yes, you should be able to drill a couple of holes, but just check underneath first, incase there's a brake pipe or electrical cable in the way.
John.
EDIT! I'm pretty sure I owned this car, sometime back. I bought it with the intention of fitting a Pinto automatic engine and box, but the cortina turned out to be far too good to break. The cortina was sold and I then had no use for the RV. I sold it to someone in North Norfolk.

It looks like it has been given away, for free. The seller said it was heading for the scrapyard, as nobody wanted it, so offered it for free to save it. It looks like somebody took him up on the free offer.

I'm currently modifying a CJ7 one, for mine. Not exactly straight forward, but hopefully, I'll figure it out eventually.

Greg, I think I might try and use a modified CJ soft top on mine. A friend of mine makes canvas tops for classic military vehicles, so he can do the alterations for me. To be honest, I've not given it much thought, yet. I've got so much to do on the old thing, but my (and other peoples) motorcycle projects, keep getting in the way.

Hi, Greg. With the screen, I had to cut the CJ hinges, to allow the bottoms to be moved out, wider. If you go to the "Eagle Owners" Facebook page, I have posted a photo, with a little more information.

On the Cortina based RV, the body tub is just over an inch wider than a CJ7. I am in the process of fitting CJ, two piece soft doors and windscreen to mine. Some modifications are needed to the screen hinges, to get it on, but it's all do-able.

Good luck with the Sportster, Peter. I've had four and really enjoyed them. All mine have been the old solid mounted engine models (pre 2004). All 1200cc bulletproof, simple, reliable bikes. If you're going for a later model, you'll need to keep it on a smart battery tender if you don't use it every day. The alarm / immobilisers eat batteries very quickly. Post up a few pictures, when you get it.

They look like they will work well. Got to be an improvement on the old fibreglass type. I've gone with CJ7 doors. They're known as half doors. The windows zip open, or you can remove the top section completely. Like yours, they are lift off, too. Of course, they only work, if you also fit the CJ7 hinged windscreen frame. John.

I should be there. . . . Probably not with the RV, though. In the past, this has been a great show and I attended for 6 years, until it was stopped. I had the RV there, for a couple of years, but then attended in my old Mustang or Camaro. I'll probably have a ride up there on my motorcycle, weather permitting, but If not, I'll come in the van. Look forward to seeing you there.

I have flared arches on my ford based RV, they are part of the body rather than bolted on Have you added a body lift, to this one? It sits very nicely.

Yes, the RV screen frame is definitely a weak point. I remember someone on here, had a windscreen glass come out of the frame and smash into them, whilst driving. A nasty experience for sure. It's not helped by the fact that most of the body tubs produced, have a dip in the section that goes across under the screen frame.

Proper Jeep CJ doors, will not fit an Eagle RV. The windscreen rake and height are completely different.

Can't really help but can tell you that the RV tub is an inch wider than a CJ7. I would expect that you'd have to cut the complete floor out of the Eagle tub and fabricate a new one, to make it fit on the chassis. New glass fibre tubs are still available for CJ's, from people like 4 Wheel Drive Hardware. Very expensive though, once shipping has been factored in.

Pleased to say that Peter collected the screen frame and glass and, as a little bonus, he also got a hood frame that I had in the shed.
Pleased they have gone to someone who can make use of them.

I had a call from Peter Brown (on the Eagle Facebook page), this morning. He's asked if he can have it when he comes to the area, in a couple of weeks time. So, provisionally, it's Peters, but if anything changes, I'll let you know. Thank you for offering to save it.

I guess you don't need one too badly, then Pat. I have a skip coming on the 21st of this month and the screen and frame will be going in it, if not bought and collected before. You can text me on: 07889-777103, if it's easier. I'm in Norfolk.
