Hi guys,
Not been on here much recently mainly due to enjoying driving the jeep.
I was wondering on your thoughts re HVI and mots.
My jeep reaches 40 years old this year. First registered 1979 and turned into a kitcar in 1986 and is not registered with a Q plate.
The jeep is really only a rebodied Diahatsu albeit with a small chassis extendion, its all Diahatsu and not been significantly changed in over 30 years. It has all the original suspension, engine and drive chain.
If i read the government's guidance correctly this would fall into HVI classification and no longer need tax or mot.
What do you guys think, would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks Simon

Obviously the rebuild used most of the original parts of the donor so scored over 8 points and was able to retain the original registration number and DATE OF REGISTRATION. As long as it is registered on the original date that is what counts. Only if, like mine, on a 1966 chassis but re-reg in 1995 do they take the last date. so it just depends on what the numbers are on the V5c. as long as it is registered over 40 years ago on 1st Jan. your good to go.
