Hi Terry. It`s funny you say that as I was thinking the same thing. But Baloo clearly knows what he is doing so I guess he has measured twice as they say :-) I put a seat in my shell to see what it would be like and I am pretty sure that if I remove even a few inches from that area I would not be able to drive it. Although I am 6 2“ so maybe if you are 5 feet something it will work, but pedal angles may be difficult. It will be interesting to see what Baloo comes up with I think.

Jamman, I used sierra pedals in mine and made a 50mm spacer box to take them forward and thats only just about right for me. In a couple of years I'm gonna build a new better designed chassis for it. May just stick with 2wd for simplicity and economy.

Thats the beauty of cars like this though isn`t it, we are only limited by our imagination :-)

I am hoping to use the standard frontera pedals and dash in mine but we will see how the nuts and bolts of that works out when I get to that point. The hardest part will be giving everything a metal bracket to mount on behind the grp so there is much more strength and no gel cracking 6 months later.

Plenty going on here, one thing comes to mind with shortening the scuttle, its gonna make fitting pedals a bit tight unless you are going to extend into the engine bay. What do you have in mind. hello boys yep the pedals and steering column are going to move back 4", luckily I have the red RV to measure and compare from, when I sit in the rv in a comfortable position I still have around 5" of rearward travel on the seat slider then behind the seat there is another 6" or so of space that I could move the seat back into if I needed to but I don't think I will will be using the vitara pedals and steering column

The hardest part will be giving everything a metal bracket to mount on behind the grp so there is much more strength and no gel cracking 6 months later. having had a good look round the blue body its fair to say its pretty weak so what I am thinking is that I will make a new steel floorpan that will bolt to the existing body mounts on the vitara chassis, this floorpan will include the bulkhead so the pedals and steering column bolt up to something solid, this will also allow me to test drive it with out the body on once I am happy with the floorpan I will get it galvanised and then the body will drop on top of it and get bonded on to it he's a sketch on the back of a f.ag packet not the best I know but you get the jist of it ??

I think at that point I would just buy a CJ6.

I agree with Baloo. I have owned 2 Jeeps and they look great but are truly awful. The v8 version drank fuel and sounded great but was sooooo slow. The straight 6 one was better but both rusted like it was a requirement on both the body and the chassis. I haven`t seen something corrode that fast since 1970`s Jap cars! In short, they are junk. Incidentally, you can buy grp and alloy bodies in the US for Jeeps now too. So even they know they are crap :-) I have no doubt that the projects Baloo and I have started will outdo a Jeep in almost if not all areas. If I add a diff lock to my 3.2 205hp Frontera/Isuzu drivetrain no CJ will get close to it on or off road. So that is my reason for this project for those who think us crazy :-)

Ha ha ha. I think you are right. To be honest I have no love for any of Eagles products in their original form. Badly designed death traps... but when I stumbled on this forum it was clear that you lot of crazy people were really taking what were unarguably appallingly designed and made kits (technically) and were making them into engineering masterclasses that were way beyond what could have been imagined back in the eighties. And I really love and appreciate that. I have been building cars since I was a kid and creating custom cars for the last 15 years, and I love groups like this who find new solutions to old problems and re engineer things to a superior level. So even though I may not like the idea of Eagles, I go through most of the topics really carefully. And even after 40 years in this game I learn a lot. Awesome...

All true. , I forgot I am in Spain, we don't do rust down this end, none of my old cars has a drop of rust apart from the Corsa under the rear window.
