Finally getting round to do some work on the ss, got the front brakes off, new calipers, disc and pads ordered, backing plate getting shot-blasted and powder-coated, has anyone replaced brake pipes was going to get new ones made up if someone knew any decent places..
For brake lines you can make your own with a simple flaring tool set £31.45 +post and what I would go for myself if on a budget but if not I would buy the better flaring tool; tinyurl.com/ne3c8g2 as I have, 100% every time, the bar type tend to slip in the clamp but for a one off job the cheaper set is OK.
Ready made you are looking at about £80 a full set, did I make my own? Dam right I did. It isn't difficult to flare your own and you can practice on a 2" off cut until you get it right before tackling the right length.
Set of 4 braided pipes about £50 +post and highly recommended but make sure you get the right ones, for year and brake set up, (drum/disc etc).
I replaced all my SS bushes with standard rubber ones. havent tried polybushes. the reason I did that is that one of my friends is right into mk3 Cortinas and he said a polybushed Cortina feels far too harsh. so I reckoned the much lighter SS body would be worse. just my feelings but I dont fancy driving a car thats going to rattle my teeth out :-)
