Further to Chat I had at donington kit car show. The RHOC events organiser has been in touch and told me of a kit car owners club meet that he is organising in September. It's short notice but they are trying to get it sorted so that people who only tax their motors for Stoneleigh with 6 months tax can still drive their kit there. There are no rules as to what you drive to the meet in, it can be a tin-top, Kit or classic. It is just a club get together they are hoping that over the weekend to have a few games and may-be driving challenges but also to be able to chat about what we the clubs are going to do if and when the shows stop which we believe will be in the not too distant future. The RHOC committee believe that inter club meets and co-operation are the way forward, and I partly agree so I really hope that I can attend. I have taken this info from the Jago forum with the permission of the sectetary and I have also forwarded it to the Dutton owners who camped with us at Donington and they are going to post it on to their forum, Both these clubs are also trying to get people to attend as they too see that something needs to be done. So come on lets have some Eagle owners there Email for RHOC... It is the last weekend in September cost is £10 per tent/caravan/family. We hope to have some fun and games. Will also have club BBQ and lots of fun. for lack of details but still planning. Phil

'bout bloody time! I am fed up with seeing declining numbers at shows and rising cost to line promoters pockets. When I see what it cost attend major shows these days I cringe. In these troubled times we are ALL finding things tight and that is if you have a job. Let us get back to the basics as it was in the beginning, with area inter-club meets, (near a pub). I hope Stoneleigh continues as the few manufactures out there that are not designing exotic, out of reach, £30,000 turn-key cars few of us can afford, much less run, need at least one show place but most of the others, well, I for one would not pay £70+ to trudge around a field and a large shed, much less another £25 to camp there. Although I don't agree with all RAM said in his Donnington rant I certainly don't think it gave value for money. Low cost regional club meets are the way to go and if suppliers like CBS etc. want to turn up, great. Is there a national body/organisation, that brings together all kit car clubs, If not, why not?

Anyone coming to this meet ?
We are going, should be there Saturday AM sometime. Not taking any Club with us just going as fellow kit car owners (ok we will be driving our Jago's but only because the tax runs out at the end of the month so we are making the most of it) Our aim is to see if the inter club link up, works for this kind of meet, If it does then it could be a regular or at least an annual thing (Kit car owners holiday)who knows?

Just got back from a great weekend with the rhocar club, great bunch of people, they laid on a BBQ and a barrel of beer and loads to do. Great venue just off the A14 with views over Hollowell lake and the hill's beyond. The hosts were great, happy for just about anything to happen and happy to chat about just about every subject known to man. There were plenty of things to try your hand at..... Tractor challenge. Trailer reversing. Treasure hunt. Driving skill test. Blindfolded driving challenge. Giant potato cannon. Archery. Kites. and a big field to play with your car in. My daughter Katrina" has just had her first go at driving my van and they were several other youngsters driving their dads kits around and of cause a crazy Land rover man. We did have several chats about the state of the kit car shows and the fact that all the clubs are not getting many if any members now. They have just managed to get 28 new paid up members in the last three weeks (which is more new members than they normally get in a year) so they must be onto something with this easy going, any car lark They are trying to get a date sorted for next year, If they do we will be going again as we have had the most chilled out relaxing weekend away with our kits than we have ever had at a show I don't think that any body got up this morning before 9.00

I think it's great a club like the RHOC can put on a bash like that. My brother and I went to a car meeting Alabama a few years ago and had a great time, there were all sorts and classes of cars, (his 944 won best German) and like the RHOC do there were lots of things to do, several stalls selling stuff and home made produce, a great day and $10 entry. I think it is beyond the realms of hope that something could be hosted by local clubs in each area along the same lines. I still don't know if there is a national body / register of kit car clubs that could co-ordinate this idea. but with dwindling numbers and dropping sales (thanks DoE / IVA, bastards) I think the days of the BIG shows. Stoneleigh included, are numbered.
