Hi all. I'm nearly at the stage where I'll be dropping the body back onto the chassis of my SS. my question is ... should there be a rubber strip between the chassis rails and the body ? mines certainly didnt when I took it off but I've heard it might be a good idea as a little bit more insulation from vibration .... ;D

You should use the standad VW rubber gasket.

, thinking VW as usual. The build manual on the technical page of the EOC site makes no mention of a rubber gasket but it would be a good idea I think to lay a couple of millimeters on the rails. tinyurl.com/ctuw4bbRelevant section of build manual. 2. Lift the body back on to chassis and secure it with the labeled bolts. The captive nuts in the chassis are a nuisance if they get cross-threaded, so take great care to ensure that all the bolts have gone in cleanly, and leave them finger-tight until they are all in. The body will slide around on the chassis enough to let you line up the holes. Next, refit the seat belt anchor cage. When the body bolts are all in position, they can be tightened up and the body is now secured.

Just put some tiger seal on the rails when you bolt the body down, it will dampen out any rattling and such.
Its about a tenner a tube off ebay, I used it to put my SS body back on the VW pan with the VW seal.
Its good stuff.
