Hi Jon, As Peter confirmed, I still have your screen safe & sound, apologies for being 'out of the loop' & not keeping in touch. Just give me a call at your convenience & we can arrange to get it back to you. 07759 714214 Best regards, Tim.

Wife was made redundant one of the many from Ethel Austin group, So splashing out on a Polycarbonate windscreen is a non starter at the moment for me. Kept getting knockbacks from the glass manufactures unless ordering lots of screens.
Been searching ebay for front and rear screens to see what else I could adapt but found nowt as yet. If there's a will there's a way I'm sure.

Oh Tom, you have no idea for what you ask, one of the rarest things on the planet, there are more Pink pathers than SS screens, If you can find one don't even ask the price, just buy it. (but should be about £450

I agree with you Peter. When I was looking to get a new windscreen made I had a price and a manufacturer, Pilkington Glass and Uroglass both said they would make me one, but I couldn’t pi them down to when it would be done. Pilkington Glass said they would make one but due to the cost they had a minimum order of 10!!

So anyone with about five grand and the perseverance to get them made and then sell them at cost? Thought not.

These people are worth a try. They did a limited production run for a classic car club recently, (See last months Classic Car mag...didn't read the article but took a note of the name and address). They were, by all accounts, enthusiastic and willing to help. You will need to supply them with an intact screen for them to work from............Jon??
Automotive Glass International 46 Leach Heath Lane B45 9DB Rubery, Birmingham, United Kingdom
Might be worth checking if they have a website and would reckon that the best idea would be for everybody to commit to a screen and then elect a spokesperson to introduce themselves and place the order............a dozen enquiries froma dozen individuals tends not to work in these circumstances.
Good luck!!

I have contacted the International Automotive Glass Federation for such a company but nothing as yet. Peter
Copy of email sent Hi, I am Peter Lee, committee member of the Eagle Owners Club (www.eagleownersclub.org.uk) and we are constantly trying to find a manufacture of one off screens for our Eagle SS cars that doesn't cost the earth and require a minimum order of 5 plus. These are simular to but not the same as the better known Nova by some 2". Do you have such a company we could contact? Regards, Peter G. Lee Eagle Owners Club

As I am some way from needing to fit my screen, yes it could be used for a template (as long as whoever takes it promises not to break it!) for a future group buy.

It's also close to the total cost of a gearbox and LSD I want for the Trackday Golf!

It's because of the rarity of them and the unlikely event of new ones becoming available, wouldn't ge the first time a SS has been bought for it#'s glas and then chopped up.

I've just had a word with my mate Dave Brookes of DB Repicas, He needed bespoke rear screens for his hardtops. The only people he could get to make them was Uroscreens. Now heres the rub! They need either a screen to make a pattern from, or a mould, and the first run is a minimum of 25 screens!!! At the time the cost was £4000 and it may have gone up by now! But that was for heated rearscreens so plain glass maybe cheaper. That equates to £160 a screen. So you either need and entrepeneur or maybe 12 people who are willing to buy 2-3 screens and risk selling the spares on to cover your costs He also said that they were slow at getting back to enquiries, but they will

Anything back from International Automotive ? As I need a screen please put me down for one. or two depending on costs If we need a group order we could each pay the organizer through paypal (allowing for the paypal charges) That way the money is there in advance. I don't mind arranging, if we can get a company that will do it. I have a screen which is still intact although has large cracks but could be used as a template. If some one could give me the contact persons at Pilkington Glass, I will hound them and nail them down to costs ect.

Thinking some more Apologies if this question has been asked many times before, But do we know who made the originals. Do any ex- employees of Eagle know where the original order was sourced from. I’m thinking if we can find the original manufacture, then they may still know if the original moulds are still around and may be a case of just jigging these up again or sending to a new supplier, which may save on set up costs.

Surely that bloke at TEAC must have a copy of the original mould??? Would have been daft to take on the project, moulds and all if he didn't ensure he had such a crucial part. Also what was he going to do for screens if and when he resurrected the SS?
This thread is going nowhere fast........people need to start committing themselves to a screen otherwise if you need 25 on a minimum production run and you have two bods willing to splash the cash then you're up the proverbial creek.
Obviously cost is an issue but if we could find a manufacturer that could be tied down so worst case scenario is £250 per unit, preferably cheaper.
So lets start with a list. Who needs a screen and is willing to pay?

I'm thinking the original windscreen manufacture would hold the mould not TEAC as they would be the manufacture who made them. Its a good idea to get a list together, but peoples circumstances do change. If we can nail down a price, minimum quantity, delivery time from an actual supplier willing to make, we can then worry about selling this order. I would think quite a few people will need one and those lucky enough to have one already may want a backup, as this opportunity may not come along very often. Does any one have an email address or number for the Pilkington contact willing to make them. Not the general number as I've been there before around in circles

Fired those numbers off to Pilkington glass using the general contact e-mail address pilkauto@pilkington.com. Hopefully they mean something to them and they can put me in touch with some one who can assist with a order. Fingers crossed they respond.

Well its been a few days now and nothing back from Pilkington, No surprise there!! Found a place in Hungary which looked a small manufacturing place and thought might be cheaper and could offset transport costs. They were called Hirschler. Reply from Hirschler I'm but we can't help you as our product range doesn't include this windscreen. (We do not interested in developing this windscreen first of all due to the small amount.) Best regards, Erika Papp At least they replied. Anyone know an actual contact or anyone any idea's to progress

I have tried a few so called custom screen makers and they are all either loopy on price or just ignore me. I have e-mailed Plilkington myself so we will see what happens but i don't think we are going to get far away from the £450 and minimum of 10

I've had the following response to my e-mail to pilkington, but the reply is from a email address from NSG
The DOT 17 below means the glass was made at the Kings Norton factory at Birmingham ( now closed), or this factory at Queenborough. From the rest of the numbers I can tell that it was not made at Queenborough. I can carry out a search on our system on sizes or a description, or any information that you may have. Please mail me back what you have Thanks,
I have replied with sizes and pictures

Corrispondance up date Andrew, 100% sure it was made at Kings Norton ( XXX factory) in Birmingham. The picture looks like a Nova, but our sizes on the height don’t match. We have a centre height of 948 on the Nova. I am fairly sure that we don’t have the tooling for this part. It may be possible to bend the glass on the Nova tooling, but we would need the glass you require here to be able to fully evaluate if this is a possibility If you want to do this please let me know Thanks,
And my reply awating a response..........
Hi Yes the Nova kit car is very similar to the eagle so the screens would also be similar. You could have my screen from the picture for evaluating, as it’s not really any good to me now it has a crack on one side of it. If you let me know the address to send the screen too, I will see about the logistics of having it sent. Would you have any idea on rough costs at this stage, Is there a minim order. Or do you need the screen for this?
Out of curiosity, do you have the Nova screens in stock and at what price. I’m wondering with them being similar( most likely a few centimetres difference) can these be cut down? Or perhaps it not a simple as it sounds
Regards Andy

Right then, need to send my windscreen to Pilkington Automotive Ltd @ ME11 5DY (KENT). I could post it, but a little worried about it arriving as a jigsaw puzzle at the other side . Its already cracked. I live near Doncaster but work near M1 Jct26, any ideas's besides wrapping it carefully to get it to the factory, do we have enough members to get a relay type of thing going. They need it to evaluate it against the Nova Screen to see what they can do.

May be an idea to pop into your local autoglass screen fitting place and ask if they have a way of sending it on your behalf . They must have a way of sending back rejects etc ,
