hi all,i bought my ss last year on ebay,love the car but find it really cramped to drive ive been toying with the idea of doing away with the gull wing doors and making it into a fixed door open top summer car.anyone heard of anything similar been done before? any advise appreciated

At least your driving it which is a lot more that some folks, including me You could just take the doors off altogether (and spiky, catch thingy) for the summer, you do not need to have doors on, but dropping the floor to suit, 3" to 4" would be better, with Bedford Rascal seat backs reclined at 45 degrees.

Eagle made the 2+2 which was basically what you describe. It did not look as good as the SS and did not sell so well. I don't know how the chassis differed from the SS. Can any one else help? Chaz.

PS if it's a Ford based one you can't drop the floor any further really! But Peter's right - reclining seats are a must. Surely you're not any taller than Simon???
